Trebuchet:  Building a Medieval Siege Engine

There should be only one team of three students per school.  If a student is on the project team, he/she may not take part in the math competition or science competition as the project competition will take place during the other competitions.

This year, the student project team will have one hour to design a working trebuchet that will "seige" a castle staffed with Artie Artichokes.  The following tools and equipment will be provided for each team.  This list is not exhaustive:

Trebuchet Base
Trebuchet Arm and Pins (wooden and metal, launching)
Weights

String of various sizes and kind
Duct tape
Various Fabric pieces for the Pouch
Playdough

It is recommended that each team do some Internet research about what a trebuchet is and how it works.  Here are a few links but there are many more to be found:

Once each team has constructed their trebuchet, they will be launching a projectile made of playdough at a target.  Only one trebuchet will be the conqueror!
