What should I pack in my bags?
Just as you would "pack your bags" before a road trip, you should ensure that you have the proper tools to succeed in your class.
For any class that uses an online delivery mode, online or hybrid , you should ensure that you have the following tools:
- Computer
- Minimum 64 MB RAM
- Minimum 1 GB hard drive
- Minimum 150MHz processor speed
- Operating System
- Windows 95 or higher
- MacOS 8 or higher
- Word processing software
- Antivirus software
- Internet connection
- A valid email address
- Web browsing software
- Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher for a PC
- Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher for a Macintosh
- Familiarity with navigating Blackboard
Your "tour guide", or instructor, will identify the specifics required for the aforementioned list on your "itinerary", or syllabus.
In addition to the technical tools you will need, you should also consider that successful online learners posses the following characteristics:
- Self motivation
- Excellent time management skills
- Good organizational skills
- Are disciplined in their school work
- Have good communication skills
- Are not afraid to ask questions
