Dual Enrollment offers a unique college experience for High School Students! We partner with Valley high schools to offer dual enrollment credit for academic and occupational courses. Dual Enrollment courses are offered on a high school campus and are taught by qualified teachers using a college-level curriculum. It is a cost-effective way for high school students to get a head start on college. Our Dual Enrollment courses vary by high school and can be paired with Concurrent Enrollment to help students achieve their post-secondary certificate and degree goals.
Due Dates & Deadlines
Spring 2024:
- October 2, 2023 - Dual Enrollment registration and Maricopa Grant Application open.
- February 2, 2024 - Maricopa Grant Deadline.
- February 9, 2024 - Spring Dual Enrollment registration AND payment deadline. Students will be dropped for non-payment as of this date.
- February 16, 2024 - Drop deadline to qualify for a full refund.

Tuition for in-state residents at the Maricopa Community College is $97 per credit hour plus a $15 registration fee per semester, per college. Many high school districts pay a portion of this tuition for in-state students, making dual enrollment even more affordable for students. Check with your high school about dual enrollment rates. Dual enrollment grants are also available for qualified students.

SCC dual enrollment credits transfer to all Arizona public colleges and universities. Most out-of-state colleges and universities accept dual enrollment. Students transferring out of state are encouraged to check with the post-secondary institution for transferability before enrolling. Students can request transcripts be sent to their college/university.
Dual enrollment and advanced placement courses are good options for students. The difference is that dual enrollment students receive a grade and credit for the work performed throughout the year. These credits usually transfer to the student's college of choice as direct course equivalents.
Advanced placement classes require students to pass the Advanced Placement (AP) test to earn college credit. Credit is awarded solely on a student's performance on this single exam. Credit is based on the score students achieve on the AP exam.
Dual enrollment classes meet at the high school during the regular high school day and are taught by college-certified high school instructors using a college curriculum and text. The high school agrees to accept these college courses toward a student's high school completion.
Concurrent enrollment classes meet at a college site or online and are not affiliated with the high school. Students interested in concurrent enrollment must submit a special admission form. Students need prior approval from their high school counselor or administration if they want these college courses to help satisfy high school requirements.
