THE PROGRAM:

Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) using AutoCAD software forms the program core. Students build drafting and computer skills through the development of professional quality residential and commercial working drawings. Registered Architects form the faculty core, conducting classes in an office-like atmosphere designed to simulate the professional work place. Lessons are real-world based, incorporating typical design industry conventions, code requirements, local construction methods, and the problem solving skills typically required for on the job success.

The residential and adjunct faculty delivering SCC's Architectural Technology Program and Computer Aided Drafting classes are highly qualified professionals who bring real-world experience and real-world expectations to the classroom. Lessons learned from working for people in the industry, lessons learned from hiring and training their own employees, and, as importantly, lessons learned from years of helping our diverse student body meet their individual and collective goals, gives our faculty special insight and helps to form a relaxed but professional relationship with our students.
