Arenal

The Arenal volcano is situated near the community of La Fortuna, where it dominates the village landscape. The volcanic hot springs at Baldi are naturally heated and are located in a strategic place where people can see the flowing hot boulders descend from the volcano while taking a relaxing bath in the mineral water. After relaxing, one can take a hike down to La Fortuna Waterfall. The powerful water falling more than 150 feet from the rainforest is refreshing and an incredible sight!

Manuel Antonio National Park and Beach

Lying on the Pacific coast 7 kilometers south of the town of Quepos, Manuel Antonio National Park contains a charming combination of rain forest, beaches and coral reefs. Its beaches are the most beautiful in the country, lined with lush forest. This park has a remarkably long list of wildlife inhabiting it: brown pelicans, gray-headed chachalacas, solater?s ant bird, toe and three toed sloths, iguanas and rare and adorable squirrel monkeys. Besides relaxing on the white sand beaches, students can choose to hike, surf, swim, snorkel, and ride horseback.

Guanacaste/ Santa Cruz Region

Guanacaste is a semi-arid region located in the northwest corner of the country. It is an incredible place for students who love the indigenous and latino culture. Students will enjoy exploring many of the pristine beaches in the region and travel to Guatil, a small town of indigenous people. There, they can learn about the indigenous culture and make clay bowls in the same way it was done hundreds of years ago.
