Testing Center

The Maricopa Community Colleges accept ALEKS, COMPASS, or ACCUPLACER scores for course placement. There is no charge for placement testing. Tests are given on a walk-in basis, first come first served. Students must have a Student Information Form on file with the Admissions Office prior to placement testing. Students will need to bring their SCC Student Number (not MEID) and a photo ID for all placement testing services.

PLACEMENT TESTS

College students without college-level credits in English, reading, or math will complete placement testing in all three subject areas, English, reading, and math, in one test session.

• Allow 2 hours for completion of all three subject areas.
• Bring your 8-digit SCC Student ID Number (not MEID) to testing session

PLACEMENT TESTS - SINGLE TEST SESSIONS

• For continuing or transfer students who have not earned college credit in English, reading, or math; or for those students who are retesting in a subject area.
• Allow one hour per assessment for completion.
• Bring your 8-digit SCC Student ID Number (not MEID) to testing session

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)

• The CELSA test is given for ESL course placement.
• Allow one hour for completion.
• Bring your 8-digit SCC Student ID Number (not MEID) to testing session

SCC INSTRUCTOR TESTING (MAKE-UP/SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS)

• Students must know their instructor’s name and the name of the course/exam they are taking. Students must arrive at the Testing Center with adequate time to complete the exam (per instructor’s guidelines).

Mon – Thurs 8am – 6:45pm (last exam administered at 6pm)
Friday 8am – 4:45pm (last exam administered at 4pm)

PROCTORING SERVICES FOR DISTANCE LEARNING

Proctoring services are available by appointment only Monday – Friday*, 8am – 3pm.
(*The campus is closed on Fridays mid May - mid August)

• Students must schedule the appointment 48 hours in advance of their testing session; appointments are given on a first-come/first-serve basis.
• Proctoring services are not available during the week before classes begin, the first week of classes, or during finals week
• Fee is $15.00 per exam.
   

HESI A2 (MCCCD Nursing Admissions Exam)

• You must arrive at least 4 hours prior to closing in order to test. No HESI A2 tests will be started after that time. All tests must be completed in a single testing session which must end prior to the end of the scheduled testing period.
• HESI A2 testing will not be available during the week before any semester starts, the first or last week of any semester, or finals week. Please plan accordingly.
