Testing Center

The Maricopa Community Colleges accept ACCUPLACER scores (WritePlacer, Reading, Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, College Algebra) for course placement (ACCUPLACER Sentence Skills is not accepted). There is no charge for placement testing. Tests are given on a walk-in basis, first come first served. Students must have a Student Information Form on file with the Admissions Office prior to placement testing. Students will need to bring their SCC Student Number (not MEID) and a photo ID for all placement testing services.

All exams will be collected 15 minutes prior to closing
PLACEMENT TESTS

College students without college-level credits in English, reading, or math will complete placement testing in all three subject areas, English, reading, and math, in one test session.

Continuing/transfer students who have not earned college credit in English, reading, or math will take placement exams for all remaining subjects in one test session.

  • Allow one hour per assessment for completion (2.5 hrs for all three subjects)
  • Bring your 8-digit SCC Student ID Number and current, valid photo ID (state, national, or current year school only) photo identification to testing session

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)
  • The CELSA test is given for ESL course placement.
  • Exam Preparation Material available here.
  • Allow one hour for completion.
  • Bring your 8-digit SCC Student ID Number and current, valid photo ID (state, national, or current year school only) photo identification to testing session

All placement exams must be started two hours prior to close.

SCC INSTRUCTOR TESTING (MAKE-UP/SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS)

  • Students must know their instructor’s name and the name of the course/exam they are taking. Students must arrive at the Testing Center with adequate time to complete the exam (per instructor’s guidelines).

All instructor's exams must be started at least one hour prior to close, and will be collected 15 minutes prior to close.

PROCTORING SERVICES

HESI A2 (MCCCD Nursing Admissions Exam)

The Evolve Reach (HESI) Admission Assessment Exam (A2) is a computer based test consisting of seven modules: Math Skills, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary and General Knowledge, Grammar, Learning Style, Personality Style and Critical Thinking. All seven modules must be completed in a single sitting in order to receive scores and be considered for admission. Students are allowed up to four (4) hours to complete the exam.

Students must start their exam within the time frame below to allow adequate time to finish the four (4) hour exam.

  • Monday – Thursday  8am - 2:30pm
  • Friday 10am – 12:30pm

All seven modules must be completed within a single four (4) hour testing session.

HESI A2 testing will not be available during the week before any semester starts, the first or last week of any semester, or finals week. Please plan accordingly.

Proctoring Services & the HESI A2 will NOT be available during the following time periods:
  • August 18, 2014 - August 29, 2014
  • December 8, 2014 - December 19, 2014
