Wireless Internet Access

The Information Technology department at SCC has implemented wireless connectivity on campus. In order to use this service, computers need to be updated properly with virus protection and operating system updates.

There are two networks: 

  1. “SCCPublic ” is for basic connection to the Internet only, but requiring no authentication; and
  2. “OpenSCCWireless” is designed to keep you close to your resources at SCC (best used with mySCC, EZProxy and My Maricopa; the latter requires authentication.

Enabling Wireless Connectivity

Step 1: From the Windows Start menu, click Control Panel, then Network and Sharing Center. Click Connect to a Network.


Step 1: From the Apple menu, select System Preferences, then the Network icon. Make sure WiFi is on and the “Show WiFi status in menu bar” box is checked. From the Advanced button, under the TCP/IP tab, make sure you are using DHCP. Clo se the dialog box.

Step 2: From the Wifi icon, found on the top menu bar, select “OpenSCCWireless”.

Logging into the “OpenSCC Wireless ” Network

Step 1: Open your Internet browser, which should take you the “ ” web page.

Step 2: You must agree to the Acceptable Use Policy:
