Scientific Name: Gallinago delicata Residency: Winters throughout the state. Diet: Eats larval insects, crustaceans, mollusks, and plants. Predators: Adults taken by Northern Harrier, Great Horned Owl, Peregrine Falcon, and Cooper’s Hawk. Nesting: Nest is near water, on the ground, and well concealed. It is made of course grass and lined with finer grass. Eggs are 2-4 per clutch, dark or pale olive brown covered with darker spots.
