Scientific Name: Tachycineta thalassina
Residency: Spends summers in most of Arizona, everywhere but the southwestern corner.
Diet: Catches insects in the air and on the ground.
Predators: Little information, House Wrens may destroy eggs in swallow nests near their own.
Nesting: Nest made of straw, grasses, twigs and rootlets, lined with feathers, and placed in a natural cavity or nest box. Eggs: 4-6 per clutch, white, 1-2 broods per year.
Nesting Records:
Notes: Have been observed helping other birds raise their young using the previous nest as their own, may nest in groups.
