Adults eat nectar from many plants, including; butterflyweed, common milkweed, dogbane. Vegetation Association: Host plants are yellow passionvine, blue passionvine, maypops, grooved flax and many others. Found in open sunny areas such as pastures, fields or road edges. Predators: Life Stages: Complete metamorphosis; egg, larva, pupa, adult. Notes: Young caterpillars feed and shed their skin, or molt. The final molt produces the pupa, and then the butterfly rests.
