Scientific Name: Podilymbus podiceps
Residency: Year-round throughout Arizona, except northeastern corner where it spends only summers.
Diet: Eats fish, insects, frogs, and crayfish.
Predators: Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, and Glaucous-winged Gull. Eggs are eaten by American Coot.
Nesting: Nest is a platform made of decaying vegetation that is attached to growing vegetation in shallow water. Eggs: 4-7 per clutch, bluish green, 1-2 broods per year.
