Orange-crowned Warbler

Scientific Name: Vermivora celata

Residency: Summers in eastern and norther part of Arizona; winters in southwest. Central Arizona is a migration zone.

Diet: Eats insects and berries. In winter, comes to bird feeding stations

Predators: Nests are preyed upon by Garter snakes.

Nesting: Cuplike nest of bark strips and grasses placed in ground or in a shrub. Eggs: 3-6 per clutch, creamy white with reddish-brown markings, 1 brood per year.

Notes: It has an orange crown that is hidden under the olive head feathers unless its chest is raised.
