Aythya affinis
Residency:  Winters in Southwestern corner of state.
Diet:  Eats seeds, snails, insects and crustaceans.
Predators:  American Crow, Black-billed Magpie, Great Horned Owl, Coyote, striped skunk, and Red-tailed Hawk.
Nesting:  Nest is on the ground and hidden, made of grasses and lined with down.  Eggs are 8-14 per clutch, olive-buff, 1 brood per year.

Notes:  Highly social, winter flocks can number in the thousands.
