OPERATIONAL COMPONENTS
Wildlife Demonstration Gardens. To educate and demonstrate how landscaping with native plants benefits native wildlife and biodiversity, saves water, reduces the need for large amounts of pesticides and fertilizers, and is attractive.
Outdoor Plant Propagation Center. To grow easily transplantable desert tree and shrub species for habitat restoration projects in damaged desert ecosystems.
Greenhouse/Vivarium. To culture plants for the habitat restoration projects and the Wildlife Demonstration Gardens, as well as serving as a resource for biology classes at SCC. This facility houses aqua-culture tanks and a pond dedicated to raising endangered Arizona amphibian species.
Toad Hall. The gateway for elementary education tours, headquarters for various outreach education efforts in the community, and the hub for all the activities and functions of the Center for Native and Urban Wildlife.
