Common Goldeneye
Bucephala clangula
Residency:  Spends winters throughout the state.
Diet:  Eats crustaceans, mollusks and aquatic insects.
Predators:  Hawks and owls such as Bald Eagle and Golden Eagle, also Northern Pike fish.
Nesting:  In tree cavity or nest box, lined with feathers from female.  Eggs are 5-15 per clutch, olive to light green, 1 brood per year.
Nesting Records:
Notes: Courtship is complex with many displays.  When hatched eyes are gray-brown and undergo many changes before reaching adulthood when they become yellow.
