?Red-winged Blackbirds, Marsh Wrens, and other bird nest in cattails

?Leaves are used to weave mats

?Pioneers used cattail fluff for bedding

?Native Americans use rootstocks for food

?Found in marshes, shallow water, ponds, or lake edges

?Grows up to 9 feet in height
