Cinnamon Teal

Scientific Name: Anas cyanopteracinnamontealGWR111806

Residency: Year-round in Southern Arizona, and summers throughout the rest of the state.

Diet: Eats seeds of aquatic plants.

Predators: Common Ravens, American Crows, Bald Eagles, Black-billed Magpie, and Coyotes.

Nesting: Nest is a depression in the ground, lined with grasses and down, and near water.  Concealed on all sides with vegetation. Eggs: 7-12 per clutch, pinkish buff. One brood per year.

Notes: Hybridizes with Blue-winged Teal.
