Cedar Waxwing

Scientific Name: Bombycilla cedrorum

Residency: Winters throughout Arizona.

Diet: Eats insects, wild fruit and berries.

Predators: Adults are eaten by Sharp-shinned Hawks and Cooper?s Hawk. Blue Jays may eat nestlings. 

Nesting: Made of grasses, twigs and mosses, lined with rootlets and fine materials, placed in tree 4-50 ft. above ground. Eggs: 2-6 per clutch, pale with dark marks. One to two broods per year.

Nesting Records:

Notes: Found in large flocks where they eat berries or fruit. May abandon nest due to human disturbance.
