Bronzed Cowbird

Scientific Name: Molothrus aeneus

Residency: Summers spent in southern part of state.

Diet: Eats insects, grains and weeds.

Predators: No information on predators, but some egg and nestling losses are due to nesting with host species.

Nesting: No nest. Eggs:1 per host nest, pal greenish blue.

Nesting Records: None.

Notes: Female lays 1 egg per nest in other bird species nests. She usually removes one egg from the host species replacing it with her own. Cowbird eggs hatch earlier and get more food. Some birds will eject or destroy Cowbirds eggs.
