Scientific Name: Leptoptyphlops humilis Temporal Activity: Blind snakes spend most of their life underground; they are nocturnal and will emerge from underground on warm evenings to hunt. Diet: Western blind snakes mostly consume termites and ants in all stages of their life cycle. They use their sense of smell to find pheromone trails of ants and termites which they follow back to the nest. Predators: Blind snakes fall prey to birds, mammals, other snake species, fish, and even spiders. Breeding: In mid-summer up to seven small slender eggs are laid Vegetation Association: Found in a wide variety of habitats with soil suitable for burrowing.
