Black-headed Snake

Scientific Name: Tantilla hobartsmithi
Temporal Activity: Nocturnal, hibernation occurs in late fall and winter.
Diet: Invertebrates.
Predators:  Preyed upon by hawks, owls, coyotes, and ringtails.
Breeding: In summer clutches consisting of up to three eggs can be laid.
Vegetation Association: Can be found in a wide variety of habitats, from southeastern to central Arizona.
Notes: This snake is mildly venomous it delivers its venom through enlarged grooved teeth in the rear upper jaw, it is not considered dangerous to humans.
