Overview
Careers in Office Automation Systems (OAS) include secretaries and administrative assistants. These positions are responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical duties necessary to run an organization efficiently.
We offer a Program of Study in Office Automation Systems that leads to a Certificate of Completion and the OAS Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree.
Job Opportunities
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall employment of secretaries and administrative assistants is expected to grow more slowly than the average for all occupations over the next ten years. Opportunities will be best for applicants with extensive knowledge of software applications.

Career titles for these graduates include: secretaries, executive secretaries, administrative assistants, medical secretaries, and legal secretaries, to name a few.

Average annual salaries for skilled professionals in Office Automation Systems range from $27,000 to $41,000 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2006).
Certifications
Candidates for OAS Certificates and Degrees can obtain Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Master Certification, requiring successful completion of four exams in Microsoft Office, is also available.
