Majors: Network Administration and Hardware Maintenance
Overview
Network Administration and Hardware Maintenance are the fields responsible for the planning, the installation, and the maintenance of the information technology (IT) resources of an organization. The computer network is the lifeblood of any organization; our SCC students have their fingers on that pulse and they become extremely valuable assets in the day-to-day operations of IT resources.
We offer several Programs of Study in Information Technology (IT) support including: Hardware and Network Support and Network Administration. These programs focus on a particular concentration within the field of IT support. They are designed to give the student a hands-on, real-world educational experience to prepare them to work in today?s demanding environment.
Job Opportunities
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Network Administration and Support is expected to be one of the top ten fastest growing industries over the next ten years.
CIS@SCC graduates who specialize in Network Administration and Hardware Maintenance will find career opportunities in almost every industry including business, education, nonprofit organizations, and government. Career titles for these graduates include: network administrator, LAN administrator, computer technician, desktop support specialist, and systems engineer.
Compensation
Starting salaries for skilled professionals in hardware maintenance and network administration range from $28,000 to $40,000 (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2006).
