Description

Computer Safety and Security

Viruses, Worms Hackers, Patches, Firewalls - what does it all mean?  This class will cover many of the attacks and vulnerabilities to watch out for and the common defense mechanisms like antiviral software and firewalls.  

Excel: Level I

Learn to set up a home budget, make charts, solve business calculations, improve forecasting, and make projections.

Google Earth

Take flight with Google earth and fly from space to your neighborhood then zoom in with Google Earth's satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world's geographic information at your fingertips.

Internet and Email

Interested in learning the Internet but have no idea where to start?  Are you using the Internet now but want to learn more?  We will start from the beginning by learning basic Internet terminology and basics of surfing the web.  We will focus specifically on search techniques that will enable you to find the information you want.  In addition, adding favorites, downloading, and sending and receiving emails with attachments will be covered.

Intro to Windows XP

Learn the basics of your operating system, including booting and shutting down the computer, navigating the desktop, and exploring and managing folders and files.

Introduction to Computers

This class will start by teaching the very basics of computers including using your mouse, setting up your desktop and understanding ?geek speak.?  Next, you will learn the basics of word processing, drawing, painting, and using the computer?s HELP feature.  The last part of the course will emphasize more in-depth word processing skills and explore spreadsheets.

Keyboarding

Learn basic keyboarding skills and increase your speed and accuracy ? all at your own pace!

MS Word I

This is a powerful word processing program.  Learn its many uses including creating, editing, formatting and printing documents.

Photos and Your Computer

Learn how to organize, edit and manage your pictures with Picasa2 software, a free download program. We will also show you how to transfer music CDs to your computer. Data backup will also be covered using Windows XP and 3rd party software.

Quicken I

Learn the basic features of Quicken, a wonderful tool for managing your finances.  Quicken uses "Quicken Home and Business" to automate an accounting system for a small business.

Using Your Cell Phone

Learn to apply basic computer skills to the new computer enhanced cell phones. This class will teach you the basic skills of cell phone usage including text messaging, photographs, Bluetooth technology, syncing to your PC, connecting to the web, and more.

Using Your MP3 Player

For music wherever you go, an MP3 Player (iPod) is for you.  You will learn how to download music into your computer, from a CD, the Internet and how to use Windows Media Player to create a playlist of your favorite music.  Additionally, we will surf the Internet for sites that have downloadable music.

Windows for Laptops

Specific topics include booting and shutting down the computer, navigating the desktop, start button features, taskbar status, and receiving online help and support.

Windows Tips and Tricks

Some people seem to use Windows and its shortcuts like magic. This class is designed to show you the different ways to navigate in Windows so that you can speed up your tasks with effortless ease.
