SCC President Jan Gehler serves in numerous leadership capacities within the Maricopa Community College District and in the community. She is a stong advocate for women, a diversity champion and a leader of sustainability in action. Following is an example of President Gehler's leadership and community involvement activities:
Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD)
Dr. Gehler comes to Maricopa County Community College District with 21 years in higher education. She held rank as tenured associate professor in culinary arts and hospitality, and has served in management positions from Chair to Associate Dean, Interim Dean, Interim Provost and most recently, for 8 years as the Dean of University of Alaska Anchorage Community and Technical College.

Scottsdale Community College is one of the 10 colleges that make up the Maricopa Community College District. The Maricopa Community College District is on of the largest in the country, with 10 colleges, 2 Skill Centers and a host of additional campuses.
Scottsdale Community College opened in the fall of 1969 and moved to our present location in the fall of 1970 with an enrollment of 948 students. The college’s enrollment has mirrored the rapid population growth in the area, and it currently serves approximately 17,000 credit and 8,000 non-credit students annually.

Scottsdale Community College, a two-year college, opened its doors in September 1970, with 948 students. It is one of 10 colleges in the Maricopa Community College District. The beautiful campus with its unobstructed view of the mountains is conveniently located at the Loop 101 and Chaparral Road.
