Course Placement Tests
All students taking their first college-level English, reading, or mathematics course must complete placement testing before they can register. Scores are used by you and an advisor or counselor to help you decide which courses to take. We want you to be as successful as possible. Research shows that placement testing helps you to enter English, reading, or mathematics courses at the proper starting point. The result is that you will have a better chance of completing your courses and earning good grades.
Individuals will be required to show acceptable photo identification for all testing services. The identification must be original, not a photocopy, or reproduction.
Acceptable Forms of Identification
* Current (not expired) official photo ID: Must be issued by your school, employer, or city/state/federal government (such as driver's license or passport) on which both your name and photo appear.
The Maricopa Community Colleges accept ACCUPLACER scores (WritePlacer, Reading, Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, College Algebra) for course placement (ACCUPLACER Sentence Skills is not accepted). There is no charge for placement testing. Tests are given on a walk-in basis, first come first served. Students must have a Student Information Form on file with the Admissions Office prior to placement testing. Students will need to bring their SCC Student Number (not MEID) and a photo ID for all placement testing services.
