Cooperative Education... Putting America's Future to Work
What are the Requirements for a Student to Enroll?
- Must be concurrently enrolled in at least one class related to college major
- Must have completed at least twelve college credits
- Must work in job that directly relates to field of study
- Must complete one learning objective for each one credit of co-op
- Must work at least 80 hours for each credit of co-op
- Must have at least a 2.6 grade point average
How Does a Student Enroll?
- Completes a Cooperative Education Enrollment Contract and Training Agreement which must be obtained from the Cooperative Education Office
- Meets with Coordinator to determine eligibility and requirements for program
- Cooperative Education Office registers student for cooperative education credit after approval for entrance into program
What is Expected of the Cooperative Education Student?
- Meets with assigned faculty-coordinator at beginning of semester to discuss possible learning objectives
- Meets with faculty-coordinator and employer/supervisor at job site to agree on learning objectives and discuss evaluation methods
- Attends required professional development activity which is sponsored by Cooperative Education
- Makes timely progress towards mastery of each learning objective
- Completes final report and evaluation form
- Meets with faculty-coordinator and employer/supervisor at job site at end of semester to discuss outcomes of learning objectives and employer evaluation of student performance
