October 23, 2006 :: Women's Soccer
SCC WOMEN'S SOCCER SEASON ENDS WITH FIRST ROUND PLAYOFF LOSS TO PIMA: SCC Women's Soccer suffered 0-2 loss at the hands of Pima Community College in NJCAA Region I Playoff.  During the regular conference season SCC had split with Pima, both teams winning at home.  Pima capitalized on a home field advantage gaining the win and ending SCC''s run at a Region I title.

SCC WOMEN'S SOCCER HAS FOUR PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL ACCAC/REGION I TEAMS: Sophomore defender, Hali Nye earned first team All ACCAC /Region I honors for her defensive work throughout the regular season. Nye, the team captain for the past two season had earned second team All-ACCAC honors in 2005.  Three freshmen, Kathryn Gosztyla, Lindsey Cerqua and Ashley Wise all earned second team All-ACCAC honors.

October 21, 2006 :: Women's Soccer
SCC WOMEN'S SOCCER SECURES BERTH IN NJCAA REGION I PLAYOFF:  For the first time since their championship in 2000 the SCC Women's Soccer has secured a place in the NJCAA Region I Playoff.  They will travel to Tucson on Monday, October 23rd to face fourth place Pima Community College.

AMANDA HARTRICK FURTHER DISTINGUISHES HERSELF WITH NJCAA NATIONAL HONORS:  Freshman goalkeeper, Amanda Hartrick gained further distinction as she was named NJCAA National Goalkeeper of the week. /view NJCAA honor/

October 8, 2006 :: Women's Soccer
SCC HARTRICK NAMED ACCAC GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK:  Freshman Goalkeeper, Amanada Hartrick was recognized by the ACCAC conference with goalkeeper of the week honors for her stellar performance in the double overtime tie against Mesa (1-1) and the double overtime win against Pima (2-1). With frequent calls out to her defending teammates, Hartrick positioned herself and her team in a defensive stance that denied attempts by opposing teams to score on the SCC goal.

October 7, 2006 :: Women's Soccer
SCC VICTORIOUS IN DOUBLE OVERTIME AGAINST PIMA: SCC engaged the enemy in another double overtime contest, but unlike the previous meeting with Mesa this one ended in a win for SCC.  The yellow cards were flying, two against players and two against the Pima coaching staff adding to the drama of the high tension game.  Pima scored near the end of the first period, while SCC scored early in the second period. Freshman, goalkeeper Amanda Hartrick demonstrated her speed and agility in her role, deflecting every other attempt Pima made to score against SCC.  Late in the second overtime, Freshman, forward, Lindsey Cerqua scored to win the game for SCC.

October 4, 2006 :: Women's Soccer
DOUBLE OVERTIME THRILLER ENDS IN TIE: SCC paid a visit to ACCAC conference leader, Mesa (9-1) and made a big statement.  After a hard fought defensive battle, with brillant attacking offense, the game ended in a double overtime tie.  Both SCC and Mesa scored their lone goals in first period.  Freshman, Ashley Wise scored for SCC off an assist from freshman midfielder, Lindsey Cerqua.  After losing a couple of close games earlier in the season, Coach Inoue believes her team has turned a corner, stating that the team has gelled together and is playing with a sense of purpose and passion. 

September 30, 2006: Women's Soccer
SCC 2-1 VICTORY OVER COCHISE MOVES TEAM CLOSER TO PLAYOFF BERTH : SCC moved up a spot to fifth in the ACCAC conference standings after their 2-1 victory over Cochise.  SCC (5-3) is a win behind current fourth place Pima (5-3) who they will face later this week. Freshman forward, Ashley Wise was instrumental in the win, scoring a free-kick goal.  Wise leads the team this season in goals scored (4).  Wise was named SCC Player of the Week by her coaches for contributions to the team.  Head Coach Karine Inoue states: "Ashley has been working really hard and has been leading the team through her actions.".  
SCC will face Mesa next on Wednesday, October 4th as the second half of conference play continues.

 

SCC Women's Soccer drops game to Paradise Valley
The SCC Women's Soccer team failed to score against Paradise Valley losing 0-2.  Scottsdale's record in conference play slips to 2-3 with the loss. The next regular season game is scheduled for Saturday, September 16th at 2:30 pm.

Own Goal Haunts Artichokes:
An inadvertant ball flying into their own net proved to be a bad start as Scottsdale dropped a 2-1 decision to Phoenix College. | more |

Scottsdale scores a goal in the final minute of regulation to earn a 1-1 tie at Chandler-Gilbert. | more |

Scottsdale Sluggish in Loss at Pima:
SCC's women's soccer team never got going on Saturday in a 5-0 ACCAC loss at Pima. | more

SCC Offense Continues to Struggle in Loss to Cochise:
The Artichokes lost 3-0 to #14 ranked Cochise. The shutout for the Scottsdale offense is the seventh match in nine outings this season that the Artichokes have gone scoreless. | more |

Scottsdale Defeats South Mountain for First Win:
The Artichokes' first victory of the 2005 season was a battle as they defeated ACCAC foe South Mountain 2-1 in overtime. | more |

Artichokes Can Not Match Pima:
Pima's depth slowly wore down Scottsdale as the Artichokes fell to 0-2 on the 2005 season with a 4-0 loss. | more |

2005 SCC Season Starts on Road:
