Scottsdale Drops First ACCAC Match of 2005
Scottsdale's volleyball squad suffered its first ACCAC loss of the season with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Eastern Arizona. EAC defeated the Artichokes by the scores of 30-27, 19-30, 26-30, 27-30.
Scottsdale came out strong in game one, utilizing a variety of hitters and offensive sets to secure a close game win. In game two, SCC fell behind and was never able to recover from early game mistakes and miscues.
The Aritchokes demonstrated in game three why they have the name ?fighting? in their title. Trailing 17-28, they were able to rally to close the gap but ultimately fall 26-30. Game four saw back-and-forth play before Eastern Arizona edged the 'Chokes at the end.
Scottsdale continues to work hard to cover for the loss of one of its leading hitters in Heather Baron. The Artichokes' offense will be tested when they travel on Wednesday to compete against conference leader Glendale. Glendale is currently undefeated in the Conference at 7-0 while Scottsdale is second in the ACCAC at 6-1. |
