SCC MEN'S SOCCER LOSES A THRILLER IN OVERTIME!

Wednesday afternoon saw the SCC Men's Soccer team play Yavapai to an overtime nail biter, finally sucumming to the number two team in the country in the third minute of sudden death.

The first half saw the two teams share possession evenly, with both having chances to take the lead.

Still remembering the 6-0 defeat to Yavapai in the opening game of the season, the Chokes where determined not to befall the same fate this time, and fought for every ball.

However, fifteen minutes into the second half Yavapai went one up from a converted throw in. SCC continued to play their game, and were finally rewarded with their first goal against Yavapai in two years when Colin Stratford pounced on an assist from Michael Vernon to tie it at one a piece.

The final twenty minutes saw the Chokes continue their pressure, exhausted, with player after player going down with cramp, but never giving up.

"I could not be any more proud of them as I am right now", said Coach Berry.  "It has been a challenging season, but they have never given up and they proved that they are an excellent team with their performance today. They have regained a lot of self respect today and I couldn't be happier for them.  This is a wonderful platform from which to continue the rest of the season."
