doug madoski

 Doug Madoski
Head Coach

Doug "Mad Dog" Madoski was named the Head Coach of the Scottsdale football program in December 2005. The 2007 season will be his sixth with the Artichoke program and his second as the head coach  the previous four seasons he was the Defensive Coordinator.

During his first season at the helm of the Scottsdale program he led the program to a 6-4 record,a 6-2 conference record,and a final national ranking of #16,despite playing one of the toughest schedules in the conference.By seasons end the Artichokes Football program ranked nationally in the top 20 on offense and defense.

During the 2006 season eight student/athletes received All-Region and All-Conference selections highlighted by school record holder Tony Fein being named All-American,as well being named Western States Football League Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

Coach Madoski spent one season coaching the offensive line at San Joaquin Delta Community College in California before joining the staff at Scottsdale.

Coach Madoski had an outstanding playing career which began at Mantecca High (CA), where he lettered in both track and football. He was an All League, All-Region, and All-State performer in football and was selected as a two-way starter in the Lions' All-Star senior football game.

Coach Madoski attended San Joaquin Delta Community College and was selected to the All-Conference, All-Region, All-Nor Cal, and All-State teams. He was also aFirst Team All-American. Madoski accepted a scholarship to Utah State University, where he earned All-Big West Conference honors.After graduating with degrees in History and Political Science, he continued his playing career in the Canadian Football League.

He and his wife Mindy have a daughter (Averee)and son(Christian)

Durrell Dawson enters the 2007 season in his fourth year as the Defensive Backs Coach at Scottsdale.

Coach Dawson is a 1989 graduate of Hanford (CA) High School. He attended Mesa CC from 1989-1991, where he started as a defensive back and corner. In 1991, Dawson transferred to Phoenix College and played Defensive Back for the Bears for one season before enrolling at the University of Arizona in 1992.

After graduation, Coach Dawson played seven seasons in the Arizona Football League and one year in the Copper State Football League.

In addition to his coaching duties, Dawson is a manager for Guardsmark Security and has three daughters -- Taelor (13), Mikayla (12), and Whitney (8).

 Greg Iseman

Greg Iseman begins his fifth year in 2007 with the Scottsadle football program as the Strength and Linebackers Coach.

Coach Iseman graduated from Dobson High School in 1991 where he was an East Valley All-Conference Defensive Lineman. He played for Scottsdale in 1991 and 1992 before receiving a football scholarship to Western New Mexico University.

Iseman began his coaching career in 1994 at Chandler High School and then went on to Hamilton and coached football from 1998 to 2002. Coach Iseman has been a strength coach for the past eight years.

During Greg's first three seasons on the Scottsdale Football staff,he served as the linebackers coach. In that three year span he helped develop one All-Conference,and All-American linebacker.During the 2004 season he helped post the number 2 defense in the nation,in route to a conference championship.

Greg and his wife Michelle have one daughter Kylei  and reside in Phoenix.



ethan banning

 Ethan Banning
Offensive Line Coach

Coach Banning is in his fourth year with the Scottsdale Community College coaching staff.

He is a 1993 graduate of Pendleton Heights High School in Pendleton, Indiana. Ethan was a three year starter on the defensive line and was twice named twice to the All-Conference and All-Indianapolis Metro teams.

After high school, Coach Banning continued his education and playing career at Eastern Illinois University. While at Eastern Illinois, Ethan earned four varsity letters, was a two-year starter on the defensive line and was named team captain for his senior season.

Coach Banning had many college honors including a back-to-back All-Conference honors. While succeeding on the field, Ethan also obtained his degree in Industrial Technology in 1998.

Coach Banning has spent most of his professional life as a football player. He spent five years playing as both an offensive and defensive lineman in the Arena Football League. Over his five-year professional career, Banning has been part of two World Championship Teams. His career came to end in 2003 following a major injury to his right arm.

It was during this time that Coach Banning began working full-time at Scottsdale Community College as strength and conditioning coach,developing and implementing sport and specific workouts for all the athletes at Scottsdale Community College.In addition to his enormous responsibilites as a member of the coaching staff,he has created a private sports training business where he has contracts with Major League Baseball training individual teams of theirs, and frequently works with individual professional baseball,basketball,and football players teaching them the importance of working out.

Ethan is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through NCSA. He and his wife Julie reside in Scottsdale,and have a daughter.

 

       Tommy            Tommy Ziegler

Coach Tommy Ziegler enter his secound year as a member of the coaching staff at Scottsdale community College.  Last season, Coach Ziegler served as the teams special teams coordinator, and quarter backs coach, mentoring all-region Honorable Mention Quarter back Joe Caskey.  During the season the growth showed by Caskey was remarkable as he finished the season as the number three rated quarterback in the WSFL, and recieved numerous compliments from conference coaches, as well as coaches at the four-year university level.

Prior to accepting a coaching staff position at SCC Tommy spent one season as the Varsity Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at Moon Valley High School in Glendale, AZ a position he was promoted to after  one season as the schools Varsity Running Backs Coach and Junior Varsity Head Coach.  It was during this season that Moon Valley High School returned to the highest point of Arizona's 4A football dominance, rushing for more than 2,000 yards, and throwing for more than 2,200 yards in route to the state championship title.

Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Tommy demonstrated the ability to persever in order to attain goals.  Coach Ziegler graduated and played quarterback, at Moon Valley High School.  After graduating he quickly left the state of Arizona with an opportunity to play football at North Central College, located in the state of Illinois. Although his time in Illinois was limited, his desire was not, as he returned back to Arizona after two years to play football at Scottsdale Community College. Upon  leaving SCC, Tommy signed a contract to play football professionally overseas, as a member of the langenfeld Longhorns, located in Dusseldorf, Germany

In April 2006, Coach Ziegler married former Ironwood High School graduate Brandi Ziegler, and they make their home in the west valley.

 

    Shante              Shante Carver 

                                                                       Defensive Ends Coach

 

Coach Carver enter his secound year of coaching at Scottsdale Community College, as the football programs defensive ends coach, a position that he not only played, but played extremely well, both in collegiated copmetition at Arizona State University and professionally in the Nation Football League, Arena Football League, and in the XFL

Shante, orginally from Stockton, CA made his way to Arizona, after signing a national letter of intent to attend school and play football at Arizona State University.  While on the field for the Sun Devils, he blossomed into a dominant force on the defensive line under the tutelage of coaches such as Bruce Snyder, Lovie Smith and Tod Marinelli.  His ability and work ethic allowed him the opportunity to break the Sun Devil career sack record, become a first team All-American, and led him to become a first round draft pick of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys organization, Shante twenty-three overall.  After leaving the Dallas Cowboys organization, Shante continued his professional playing career in the XFL, as well as in the Area Football League.

Coach Carver continues to maintain tremendous relationships with former coaches and teammates and strives to seek their knowledge about the game of football.  Since retiring from football, Shante has returned to Arizona State University to finish the required two classes need to obtain his Bachelor's degree

Carver is single, and lives in the Scottsdale area.

            Played in and won Super Bowl XXX in Tempe, AZ as a member of the Dallas Cowboys

 

                                                                            Obadiah Cooper 

                                                                        Wide Recievers Coach

Obadiah Cooper enters his secound season as a member of the football coaching staff at Scottsdale Community College, as the team's wide receivers coach.  One could easily say that Coach Cooper is blessed with numerous talents that hi has worked to devop throughout the course of his life.

After graduating for high school, Coach Cooper attended San Bernadino Community College, where he played football, and ran track.  Upon ending his junior college elgibility, Obadiah accepted a full ride football scholarship to Eastern Illinois University, where he would become a star on both the football fiesl as awide receiver, and kick returner, as well as on the track where he eventually would shatter school records, and compete at a national and world level.

Upon Leaving Easter Illinois University Obadiah amassed an impressive professional career that spanned seve years, beginning when he signed a contract and played two years with the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League.  I was here that Coach Cooper was able to showcase his tremendous speed, and ability to stretch a defense vertically al as a part of the famed "commitment to Excellence."  After leaving the Raiders, Cooper signed and played one year in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, shortly left NFL Europe, yet continued his playing career in the Arena Football League, and in the XF.

Since leaving Eastern Illinois University, Obadiah has also been a world class sprinter running the 100,m in a personal best of 10.05 secound, and the 200m in 20.46 secounds.  He also holds the record for the fastest sprinter ever at 35 years old to run the 100m at 10.15 secounds, and ranks secound all time in sprinters over 30 to run the 100m, and the 200m.

Coach Lu Foster enters his firs year on the staff at scottsdale community College working the linebacker corps.  Lu brings Scottsdale Football two years of previous coaching experience both coming at the high school levels in Southern California, as well as an impressive playing career that spans through the community college ranks, and in the NCAA Division 1A levels.

Lu began his coaching career in Southern California spending one season metoring the Lindbackers at Mira Mesa School, and another season in the same capacity at University City High School.  Both schools are located in the San Diego area of California.

Coach Foster Began his collegiat playing career during the 1988 and 1989 football season while starting on the field at DeAnzo Community College in Southern Califonia.  During his time at DeAnza, Foster was insturmental in leading the Dons to an impressive 10-0 season and a berth in the San Jose Bowl.  Lu went on to achieve numerous awards during his community college days including being voted as team captain, named Defensive MYP of the San Jose Bowl, first Team All-League, and First team All-American.  After graduating from DeAnza, Coach Foster accepted a football scholarship to attend San Diego State University.

While at San Diego State, Foster continued to excel on the gridiron, being named as the teams Defensive Captain during the 1990-91 seasons, and was elected by his teammates as the Most Insperational Player on the team for both sesons as well.  During his final season as SDSU, Lu was named to the Honorable Mention All-WAC team for his Play.  As Lu is quick to point out, the most important thing that he accoplished in college however was obtaining his B.S. degree in Sociology.

Current;y Coach Foster serves as the operations Manager for Avis Budget Group, rental cars at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix.

Lu is married, his wife Hollie is a school teacher here in Arizona and the two have two children, Paige, and Noah.

Coach Sanford Callier begins his first season as a member of the Scottsdale Community College Football staff.  Sanford brings with him to SCC a large amount of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels

Callier most recently coached at St. Mary's Prep High School in Orchard Lake, Michigan as a member of the schools football, track and strength coaching staff.  As a football coach, Sanford worked with the schools wide receivers, and defensive backs where he saw many of his athletes progress and ultimately move on to such school as Notre Dame, Iowa, Michigan Sate, Ohio State, Florida State, Cincinnati and Purdue.  Callier was a speed specialist for the track program working directly in the 4x200 in route to a state championship.  He was also insturmental in the 4x100 state championship run for the school.

Prior to coachin at St. Mary's Callier served as the recruiting coordinator for coach John L. Smith at Michigan Sate University.  While in this position Coach Callier had the opportunity to evaluate recruits, maintain recruiting database, and work very closely with assistant coaches, including Fresno State University Offensive Coordinator, and Oakland Raiders Quaterback Coach Jim McElwain.

Sanford came to Michigan State University after working as a strength and conditioning coach at the University of Illinois.  During his time at Illinois he worked directly with five Big Ten Conference sports, including football, baseball, soccer, swimming, and diving.

Callier is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where he obtained his degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology.  Sanford just recently moved ot the Phoenix area from Michigan.  He is single and resides in Chandler.

     Rick Karasch                            Rick Karasch- CSCS / USAW

                                                                        Assistant Sports Performance Coordinator

Coach Karash is a full time assistant in the sports performance and coditioning program at Scottsdale Community College.  In this role he develops, and implements strength training and conditioning programs for all of the various sports teams competing at SCC.  He is also responsible for the creation of diets, and nutritional information for all of our athletes.

Rick graduated from the University of Arizona obtaining bachelors degree in Health Education, with an emphasis on Exercise Science.  While attending the U of A, Rick completed an internship at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in their exercise and human performance center.  Upon leaving the University of Arizona, Karasch worked for the Major League Baseball and the Milwaukee Brewers in their minor league farm system, as a sports performance coach.

Coach Karasch is a certified Strength and Conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), as well as being certified by the USA Weightlifting Association.
