Head Coach Bob Swan enters his fourth year at the helm of an SCC softball program on the brink of success.  In 2006, the softball team qualified for the Regional Tournament, a first in school history.  With an extensive and talented freshman and transfer class, Coach Swan looks to contend in the top softball conference in the nation.

Bob?s coaching career stems from an extensive and outstanding athletic resume.  He received All-State Honors after playing on a 1953 North High School Championship football team that was later selected as one of the top three teams of the Century.  Bob continued his collegiate career at Phoenix College, where he started two years on the football team and one year on the basketball team.  After subsequent years as a starter for the University of New Mexico, Bob played in the 1959 Optimist Bowl for Collegiate All-Stars.  After graduating from New Mexico, Swan spent four years on active duty and two years in the Reserve with the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged as a Captain.

As an A.S.A. coach, Bob has won two Major National Championships in 2000 and 2001 in Major Women?s, the highest level of softball outside of the Olympics.  His teams have qualified for the National Tournament since 1992 in 12-under, 14-under, 16-under, and 18 gold.  In addition, Bob has coached every level of softball including T-ball for 6 year olds, parent pitch for 7 and 8 year olds, 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 Gold, Women?s A, and Women?s Major.  His coaching career spans 35 years.

Coach Swan followed up his BS from the University of New Mexico with a Masters in Education.  He then completed his Juris Doctorate degree in 1966 from the University of Arizona.  Bob is married to wife Carolyn and has three children.  Katie, 28, was an All Pac-10 softball player at the University of Arizona and ASA All American.  Jody, 32, is currently Bob?s partner in his law practice.  Cammie, 42, was an Air Force Academy graduate and All American swimmer.
