2007:: Women's Tennix
KNUTSON, KLEMPNERE, AND PURYEAR HIGHLIGHT REGIONAL COMPETITION: The SCC Women's Tennis team travels to Paseo Racquet Center for the Region I Tournament.  Chelsea Knutson, Ilva Klempnere, and Lindsey Puryear hold the best singles records for SCC and look to compete for individual spots at the National Tournament held in Tucson starting May 6th.

SCOTTSDALE DROPS TEAM MATCH TO GLENDALE 8-1:  Ilva Klemphere and Karen O'Connor defeated GCC's #2 doubles by a score of 8-2 to take the only win SCC.  Several singles players went to tie-breakers to decide matches against the first Glendale team to defeat Scottsdale in several years.

DANIEL KILEN NAMED HEAD COACH OF WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM:  Daniel Kilen brings a wealth of coaching experience to a team that has lost merely one conference match in the past three years.  As a head pro, Kilen has held down jobs in Japan, Australia, and most currently at the Arizona Tennis Association.  He takes the reins from former Head Coach Toni Logan, who guided the program to three ACCAC conference championships and an All-American Academic Team status.  Kilen's playing experience includes two years as a Fighting Artichoke at SCC, earning All-American athletic honors.


PLACES NINTH IN NJCAA DI CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Artichokes women's tennis squad scored 19.0 points to place ninth nationally at the 2006 NJCAA Division I National Championships.  Click on the following link for more information on the NJCAA Championships. | more |
