Your Artichoke Men's soccer program has gone through a tough stretch the last three games. The details are as follows:
SCC first played Chandler Gilbert on Saturday September 9th and suffered a tough 4-0 loss.
"I hope that our players can learn something from that game, Coach Berry said after the game. "I felt that the teams were evenly matched but we made several silly mistakes and didn't finish our chances, while CGCC did well in front of goal and capitalized on our errors."
The following Wednesday the 'Chokes played Paradise Valley and lost a close 2-1 battle. Going up 1-0 after fifteen minutes with a headed goal by Dan Hannon, SCC couldn't hang on to the lead and entered half time tied at 1-1. A spirited second couldn't prevent a sixth loss of the season.
This past Saturday's game against Phoenix College saw the teams meet at noon on a hot afternoon. With some nice play by both sides Phoenix went into half time 1-0 up.
"We had played quite well in the first half, said Coach Berry. We moved the ball around well, but had not asked enough of the Phoenix keeper."
With fifteen minutes to go Matt Gracey scored his first goal for SCC and the team look revitalized seeking an equalizer. Sadly it was not to come and the final score stood at 2-1.
SCC play the last two games of the fist half of the season this week against South Mountain on Wednesday and Glendale on Saturday.
Good luck to Coach Berry and his squad to go out and create some momentum! |
