A residential background is brought to the SCC program with experience in Kentucky and Arizona. Gera was "Outstanding Faculty" in 1995 for SCC and "Who's Who in America's Teachers" in 2000. She has written a column for a couple of years for Phoenix Home and Garden on interior design solutions as well as articles for Arizona Food and Lifestyle and City AZ magazines.

Gera has been active in the local American Society of Interior Designer chapter by serving as President. She was selected as "Designer of Distinction" in 1998. Currently she is National Chair of the ASID Chapter Support Team and will sit on the National Board next year.
