BARBARA HANES

Barbara Hanes has been an Equine Science adjunct faculty member since 1984.  Over the years, she has taught a variety of classes including Principles of Equine Science, Equine Evaluation, Equine Behavior, Equine Management and English and Western horsemanship and training classes.

A life long horse owner, Hanes has been professionally involved in the horse industry for more than 30 years.  She has owned and operated a training and show barn for the past 25 years specializing in the development of skilled and knowledgeable horse and rider combinations.  With a special interest in competition, Hanes trained horse and rider combinations  have won at all levels from the local academy divisions to state, regional and national competition.

Hanes has written numerous equine related articles for various publications and has judged both open and breed specific horse shows including the Arizona National Saddlebred Horse Show.

Barbara is a member of the United States Equestrian Federation, United Professional Horseman’s Association, The American Saddlebred Horse Association, Arabian Horse Association, The American Quarter Horse Association and the Arizona Morgan Horse Association.
