Shaped by a group of building officials, city planners, and architects, S.C.C.'s Building Safety and Planning Technology Programs aim to provide successful graduates with the skills required for job entry as support staff in a variety of positions including:

- Plan Review and Permit Departments
- City Planning Departments
- Code Enforcement Departments

This innovative program offers the student several options to fit his or her individual needs. Associate of Applied Science Degrees and Certificate programs are based on a common core, capped with specialized study in either Building Safety Technology or Planning and Development Technology. Students also have the option of selecting classes across the curriculum to satisfy specific personal or professional goals.

The residential and adjunct faculty delivering SCC's Building Inspection Program classes are highly qualified professionals who bring real-world experience and real-world expectations to the classroom. Lessons learned from working for people in the industry, lessons learned from hiring and training their own employees, and, as importantly, lessons learned from years of helping our diverse student body meet their individual and collective goals, gives our faculty special insight and helps to form a relaxed but professional relationship with our students.
