Stop Before You Drop

Thinking about dropping a course?

Please come see us at the Financial Aid “Stop Before You Drop” workshop before you do.

January 25th @ Noon Bring your lunch
Turquoise Room SC 164

  • Are you having difficulty in a class and looking to drop a course?
  • Do you know how a drop will affect your Financial aid?
  • Do you know the difference between a “Drop” and a “Withdrawal”?
Consider This:
  • You may not be eligible for a course refund if after the deadline.
  • Dropping can affect financial aid, scholarship eligibility or veteran benefits.
  • Dropping can affect your educational plan and can delay your graduation.

We will be discussing how dropping or withdrawing from courses will affect your current and future semesters. Also we will go over what types of on-campus help is available for you, such as tutoring and counseling

Scholarships, Loans, Grants, and Employment

Earning your degree or certificate at Scottsdale Community College means you are getting one of the best educational values in the nation. While tuition at SCC remains more affordable than tuition at state or private institutions, like many students, you may require some form of financial aid.

SCC priority deadline:
  • Summer 2016 - April 1, 2016
  • Fall 2016 - July 1, 2016
  • Spring 2017 - November 1, 2016

You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit any requested information to the SCC Financial Aid Office by the priority deadline in order to have your application reviewed before the tuition due date. Financial aid applications received after this date will still be considered for aid, but students will not actually receive their award letter until after the start of the semester. You can find any outstanding items on the Financial Aid "To Do" list on the My.maricopa self service site.

If you file after the priority date, you should be prepared to use your own funds to pay for tuition and fees prior by the tuition due date. You may opt to use the Payment Plan to hold your classes until your financial aid application can be processed. For additional information regarding payment of tuition and fees go to: Pay My Bill
