Degree and Certificate Information
Academic Degrees are Associate degrees of 60 or more credits intended for university transfer. You must select the degree that matches your university major choice. This is called a Transfer Pathway.
Occupational Degrees are Associate in Applied Science Degrees that provide students with occupational skills to enter the workforce. Most also have a pathway to a Bachelors degree.
Certificate Programs are shorter programs focused on specific skills. Many certificate programs are included in the related Associate Degree.
It is crucial that you choose the degree or certificate that matches your intent and that it is recorded correctly in your Student Center online. Advisors and the Admissions office can change your major.
Maricopa Degrees and Certificates
The Maricopa Community College offer many degrees. Some degrees are only available at one campus but many are shared. You can find all the degrees at Maricopa.edu. Credits earned at any Maricopa College will transfer to all other Maricopa Colleges.

O-Net has very detailed information on occupations that you can search, sort and save for future reference.
Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH)
The OOH includes hundreds of occupation profiles that describe job responsibilities, work environment, training and education, pay, job outlook and more.
Conduct informational interviews to gather career information from people who have jobs that interest you.
Cooperative Education combines structured learning objectives with supervised work experience. You can earn college credit for experience in a career related job. If you are interested in enrolling in Cooperative Education, please contact the department of your major course of study. They will determine your eligibility for this course.
Career Assessments and Career Counseling
You can take detailed career assessments through the SCC Counseling Services Office. They also offer ongoing career counseling to help you find your career and major. See the Find Your Major and Career page to get started.
Career Exploration Course
Undecided students are strongly encouraged to take CPD102AB Career Exploration. This course will guide you through the career exploration process. If you have 24 or more credits completed and do not have a major this course is essential to make sure you stay on track to graduation.
Maricopa Career Planning System
You can log into the Maricopa Career Planning System to browse careers or take assessments to find your interests, values and abilities and use them to find careers and majors. You can also prepare for employment and find jobs.
