SCC Moving Company

Fall Audition: Tuesday August 14th, 2012

SCC Moving Company is a college level repertory company. The Moving Company is comprised of dedicated dancers who are accepted by audition. The company focuses on dance in its wide range of styles: Modern dance, Ballet, Jazz, African, and Dance Theatre to name a few. Training requirements for the SCC Moving Company include classes in Ballet, Modern, and Somatics. Rehearsal commitments involve four hours of weekly rehearsal as well as extra time when needed. Auditions for the SCC Moving Company are at the beginning of each semester.

Scottsdale Arizona Jazz Ensemble (S.A.J.E.)

Fall Audition: Tuesday August 14th, 2012
Spring Audition: Tuesday January 8th, 2013
2:30 – 4:30 pm in PE 135

S.A.J.E. is a college level jazz ensemble. S.A.J.E. dancers are accepted at the beginning of each semester and perform for SCC Dance performances as well as events in the community. This tightly knit group, led by director Jennifer McKusick, primarily performs her unique style of technique and choreography. Training and rehearsal requirements for S.A.J.E. are Ballet and Modern or Jazz class, and four hours of rehearsal per week.

Instinct DanceCorps

Saturday, May 12th, 2012
1:00 – 3:00 pm in PE 135
*Materials needed: DVD with a minimum of three dance selections showing a wide range of technical ability, One Page Biography, & Dance Resume

Instinct Dancecorps is a pre-professional multi-discipline ensemble consisting of up to eight of the finest up and coming dancers in Arizona. Each member brings to Instinct the technical strength and athleticism resulting from serious rehearsal and training.

The company is well connected to the national dance scene, having worked with many important modern dance choreographers during its 8-year history. Instinct has developed a versatility and quickness that has prompted its rapid success. IDC performs regularly in the Phoenix area, and has performed throughout the United States. IDC has been honored with national recognition and many awards.

Scholarship Audition

SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED TO:

*1 NEW DANCE STUDENT:
$400.00 Scholarship for 1 school year
- $200.00 for Fall Semester
- $200.00 for Spring Semester

*1 RETURNING DANCE STUDENT:
$400.00 Scholarship for 1 school year
- $200.00 for Fall Semester
- $200.00 for Spring Semester

QUALIFICATIONS:
*Must be pursuing a Dance Degree
*Enrolled in a minimum of 3 dance classes during the fall semester and spring semester
*Must maintain a “C” average grade

THE AUDITION:
*Ballet Barre and Modern Center
*Bring your ballet shoes

You should audition if:
• You are a new dance student at SCC
• You want to take a technique class higher that level 1
• If you do not have a teacher recommendation to go into a higher level class
