Fire Science Technology Announcement

Thank you for your interest in Fire Science, EMT and Paramedic studies at Scottsdale Community College.

We recently decided to close these programs at our campus. Students currently enrolled in courses at SCC this spring and summer terms will finish the semesters at SCC. The current paramedic cohort at SCC will graduate in December. After this time, the programs will no longer be offered at SCC.

Our Maricopa sister colleges – Mesa CC, Paradise Valley CC, and Phoenix College, are prepared to facilitate a transfer of our current students into their Fire Science, EMT and Paramedic programs, with all Maricopa credits fully transferable, for students who wish to transfer to these colleges.

Prospective students are also welcome to contact any of these colleges for more information on the programs, including the process to enroll. Full advisement and registration assistance is available daily.

The Fire Science Curriculum offers a variety of courses leading to both a certificate and a degree in this specialized field. The most current FSC Certificates and Degrees are listed in the College Catalog.

The Fire Science Technology curriculum is designed for students who desire advanced training as professional firefighters, basic preparation for a career in fire science, or a better understanding of fire hazards.

"Hybrid" Fire Academy Class will be offered at SCC for the FALL 2011 semester. The class meets 1 night per week, 1 day per week at the off-site training facility and completes on-line assignments equivalent to 4 hrs. per week. FSC102 must be taken with corequisite FSC134.

CLASS DATES: January 23, 2012 — May 11, 2012

FSC102 CLASS MEETS:
Mondays, 5:30pm - 9:15pm (classroom)
Saturdays, 9:00am - 5:00pm (off-campus training site)
ONLINE for at least an additional 4 hours per week.

ORIENTATION: Date Time and Room To Be Announced
Attendance is MANDATORY.
