Vortex Creative Writing & Art Contest

Winners will receive their awards at the Vortex Awards Reception which will be held in May 2016 at:

This event is open to the public. Anyone can attend! Tickets will be available online and on campus at the LC Office, LC 305

Winners will be honored at the Vortex Awards Ceremony.

In all writing categories, the following prizes will be awarded:

(One) First Prize $100.00
(One) Second Prize $75.00
(One) Third Prize $50.00
(Three) Honorable Mentions $35.00

The winner of the Cover Art will be awarded $100.00

Vortex Third in Southwest Division

his year, Vortex placed 3rd in the Southwest Division (for nearly 15 years, Vortex has consistently placed First, Second, or Third). The following students won this year as well (they competed with every writer in every literary magazine in the Southwest Division!).
Vidushi Chaudry won 2nd place in Poetry
Michele Florea won 2nd place in Short Story
Erik Seweingyawma won 2nd place in Short Story
Alicia Hauskins won 1st place in Creative Non-Fiction
Kendall Straley won 1st place in Scripts

This year, the national CCHA conference is being hosted by MCCCD, and these students are invited to a special luncheon during that conference to be acknowledged and congratulated, November 7th in the downtown Phoenix.
