The safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors is paramount at Scottsdale Community College.
The Department of Public Safety protects life and property and encourages a shared responsibility for the protection and safety of the individual and the community.
Scottsdale Community College is a community of over 3,000 persons working and studying on campus. As with any community, public safety, crime awareness, and security are concerns. At SCC we believe that the security of our campus is a responsibility shared by all members of the community. Security awareness and crime prevention are traits which serve to protect individuals and the community as a whole. When all members of the community learn and practice these traits, a safer learning environment is created.
The Campus Safety Act—known as the Clery Act—provides students and families with information needed to make informed decisions regarding safety on college campuses. In accordance with federal guidelines, Scottsdale Community College publishes annual statistics on crime on SCC's campus and reports these statistics to the federal government.
