Scottsdale Community College’s School of Film+Theatre (SSFT) proudly announces its inclusion in Variety's esteemed "Top Film Schools in North America" list for 2024, reaffirming its status as a leading institution in cinematic education. Recognized for its commitment to providing high-quality, hands-on instruction, SSFT continues to set the standard for excellence in film and theater education. This marks the second year in a row that SCC has been included in Variety’s listing.

"We are honored to receive this recognition from Variety," says Dr. Eric Leshinskie, President of Scottsdale Community College. "Being named among the top film programs in North America underscores the exceptional opportunities that students have at SCC."

Bill True, Department Chair for SCC’s School of Film+Theatre, adds, "We are dedicated to nurturing aspiring filmmakers, creatives, crew and performers, and it's gratifying to see our efforts recognized on a national level. This acknowledgment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff."

As part of SCC, SSFT has established itself as a premier destination for film production education in the Southwest. With a curriculum that emphasizes hands-on experience from day one, students at SSFT gain practical skills in Production, Screenwriting, and Post-Production under the guidance of industry professionals.

SSFT's state-of-the-art facilities, equipped with industry-standard cameras, lighting, and equipment, provide students with the resources they need to excel in real-world productions. This commitment to excellence has resulted in an impressive track record of graduates securing placements in both local and Hollywood film industries, with alumni holding key positions on sets, in writers' rooms, and in post-production facilities.

In partnership with the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA Film Ready Initiative), SSFT is also playing a pivotal role in supporting the growth of Arizona's film industry. Through initiatives like the Production Assistant Certification program, SSFT is preparing the next generation of industry professionals to meet the demands of an increasingly competitive market, thereby contributing to the state's economic development.
